Upper lumbar ache is a pain in the neck! Here are four simple tips to help prevent neck pain:
No surprise here! Posture is one of the most likely culprits when it comes to neck pain. When sitting down, make sure to have your shoulders relaxed, your body straight, your lower back supported and your feet on the floor.
Driving, working, or studying may require that your neck stay in the same position for a long period of time. However, this can strain the region and end up causing injuries. So it’s a good idea to take regular breaks and try to stretch when possible.
When reading documents, working on a computer, or even using your smartphone, it’s important to position them at eye level. Why? Because looking down excessively can cause pinching of the spinal nerve.
Certain sleeping habits can cause neck pain, such as sleeping on your stomach or tilting your head to side. Your pillow technique is crucial: use as many as is necessary to keep your head levelled with your body and your spine straight.
And here’s the most important tip of all: before you make any changes, please discuss with your Chiropractor!
