Dr Hamilton is a graduate of the University of Adelaide and completed his physician and cardiology training at Flinders University and a PHD in atherosclerosis imaging and identification of early stage coronary disease at Northwestern University in Chicago IL.
He has completed advanced training in echocardiography at Northwestern University in Chicago IL.
He has been the Senior Lecturer and director of echocardiography at Flinders University and Flinders Medical center.
He been the director of echocardiography at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare Illinois in 2003-2007
In 2007 he became the Associate Professor and Head of Cardiac Imaging at the University of Texas at Houston
