There is a long legacy of dentistry in James’ family, reaching back four generations. At the time, there were no dental schools for his great-grandfather to attend, so he practiced as a self-taught dentist. His grandfather was one of the first dentists in Korea. James’ father followed in the same footsteps. While growing up, James spent a good amount of time in his father’s dental clinic. He knew early on that he, too, would become a dentist.
