Dr. Kanowitz received the "best all round dental student of class 1981", obtaining 5 distinctions in Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Oral Pathology, Community Dentistry & Radiology.
Dr. Colin Kanowitz received a gold medal for the student with the highest marks in Oral Pathology.
After obtaining his degree at the University of Pretoria, South Africa, Dr. Kanowitz spent two years in the defence force as a general dentist.
In 1998, he moved to Australia with his wife and children.
