Mr Ramez Bassari is a specialist surgeon in the fields of Bariatric (obesity/weight loss), Upper Gastrointestinal (reflux, stomach, oesophagus), Laparoscopic and General Surgery - including gallbladder and hernia surgery.
He is also GESA accredited for gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
He attended the Auckland School of Medicine, graduating in 2004. He then undertook specialist general surgical training, obtaining his FRACS in 2012. This was followed by a further 4 years of sub-specialist training in the fields of Bariatric, Upper GI and Hepatobiliary surgery. These were completed both in New Zealand and Australia. This included 2 years of accredited training through ANZGOSA.
His extensive sub-specialist training has equipped him with the skills to deal with complex Upper GI and Bariatric conditions.
He consults at Epworth Richmond and Western Private Hospitals.
He holds a public appointment with Western Health (Footscray, Williamstown and Sunshine hospitals).
