Dr John Pearce received his Bachelor of Optometry degree from the University of NSW in 1982. Since then he has obtained his Professional Woolclassing certificate (TAFE) in 1991, and his Master of Optometry degree (UNSW) in 1996, where his subjects included Visual Neuroscience, Behavioural Optometry and Advanced Contact Lens Studies. He received his Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics (UNSW) in 2010, and completed his PhD in 2017 at the John Curtin School of Medical Research at the Australian National University in Canberra. He has operated his own optometry practice for over 25 years, and has the most modern equipment available including OCT scanning equipment. His therapeutic endorsement enables him to diagnose and prescribe treatments for a wide range of eye diseases, including glaucoma. His current research interest involves the early detection of change in glaucoma suspects and glaucoma patients. He hobbies include farming, shooting and martial arts training.
