Graduating from Melbourne in 2002, Huy gained experience by working in private and corporate practices. In 2004 he opened his independent practice in south-west Brisbane. Huy is an advanced contact lens practitioner with particular interests in orthokeratology and keratoconus fittings. He also has interests in treatments reducing myopia progression and managing patients with ocular and systemic conditions including dry/watery eye, glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetes. Huy also works at the South East Queensland Centre of Excellence in ATSI Primary Health Care, where he helps manage complex eye diseases. He is also a visiting optometrist to the Indigenous Diabetes Eyes and Screening (IDEAS) service at Charleville and Mount Isa. Huy has developed extensive knowledge of pre- and post-eye surgical management for conditions including cataracts, glaucoma, pterygium and laser refractive surgery. He speaks English and Vietnamese fluently and knows some Mandarin.
