As a rheumatologist, Irwin's job involves diagnosing and treating all sorts of diseases affecting muscles, bones, tendons, and joints. The simplest way to describe Irwin is an arthritis expert.
Irwin's second role is as director of BJC Health. BJC Health is a dynamic, multidisciplinary group clinic which focuses on providing comprehensive, coordinated treatment solutions for patients suffering with arthritis & related diseases.
Irwin manages the osteoporosis service & has helped develop programs targeted at osteoarthritis & rheumatoid arthritis. He also established the Sydney Spondyloarthritis Centre in 2011. The BJC Health team strongly believes that arthritis requires an integrated approach, and at BJC Health, they work hard on this concept: Connected Care.
Irwin is heavily involved in the clinic’s educational activities for allied health professionals and GPs. Since late 2010, he has used social media for patient education, empowerment and engagement.
