Dr Alison Chiu has special interest in complex cataract surgery and is an expert in refractive vision correction including the use of corneal refractive surgery and phakic IOL’s. Dr Chiu has a special interest in the area of sutureless pterygium surgery. Dr Chiu is experienced with the use of secondary pseudophakic sulcus IOL’s and the various applications of this technology. Dr Chiu has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and regularly presents at meetings. She teaches surgery to trainees. Dr Chiu undertook ophthalmology training at Sydney Eye Hospital, with further subspecialty Fellowship training including an academic qualification in Refractive Surgery. Dr Chiu has completed a PhD from the University of Sydney, supported by prestigious scholarships at University College London and Cambridge University. She is a VMO at 3 Public Hospitals, Supervisor of Registrar Training, Examiner for RANZCO, and sits on RANZCO Council and the NSW Branch Executive Committee.
