I was born in Melbourne. I studied medicine at the University of Melbourne, graduating in 1983. I did most of my specialist training at the Royal Women’s Hospital, Melbourne. I enhanced my training in England at the Leicester Royal Infirmary and Peterborough General Hospital, and was awarded my Fellowship in the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1991. I returned to Australia to commence work as a specialist in 1992.
From 1992-1999 I was senior lecturer in the University of Melbourne Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Mercy Hospital for Women. In 2000, I returned to the Royal Women’s Hospital and was head of the Diabetes unit there from 2003. In addition, I became Director of Birth Suites from 2006, and a Clinical Associate Professor.
In 2008, I decided to concentrate more on clinical care of my private patients and left the Women’s. At present, I am a consultant obstetrician back at the Mercy Hospital for Women.
