Dean has over 25 years experience as a psychologist. He has worked in senior clinical leadership (executive level) roles in various Government agencies, private practice and corporate sectors including:

- Westmead Hospital and Royal Rehabilitation Centre Sydney
- NSW Department of Community Service (Governance)
- The disability sector through charitable organisations
- Federal Department of Human Services
- Private paediatric neurology medical practices, and
